My name is Serge Bennathan and I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my work. I am a choreographer, but it is true that I prefer the word creator or even better the beautiful word artisan. With my company Les Productions FIGLIO, my intent is to create work that gives a large place to poetry – physically, visually and with words. A poetry that is directly linked to the human experience.
I like to say that my company is the house of poetry and imagination. Why? Because I believe that both are at the heart of our strength and our outlook on the world. Without poetry and imagination, what are we? What are our differences? The world is a puzzle and to make it complete, it needs to be formed of differently shaped pieces that intricately fit into each other. That is what my work is, pieces made of different textures, stories of journeys, of growth in the adversity, of growth in laughter. It will move you physically and emotionally, it will make you laugh, it will grip you and, at the end of it, because I feel myself expanding as I create I am certain that you will too.
